Objectives

1. Explain where AI fits in the coding workflow from documentation capture through claim submission and why human oversight remains essential.

2. Identify common AI tools used in coding and billing such as CAC, clinical summarization, denials prediction, and eligibility automation, including their strengths and limitations.

3. Apply basic quality and compliance checks to AI-assisted outputs by verifying code selection against official guidelines and payer policy.

4. Describe entry-level ways students can use AI responsibly while protecting privacy and avoiding plagiarism.

This session introduces coding students to how artificial intelligence is showing up in today’s revenue cycle. We will break down tools like computer-assisted coding and ambient clinical documentation, explain where AI helps with speed and accuracy, and clarify what still requires human judgment. Students will see how AI can support early career tasks while understanding common pitfalls and compliance expectations. Click the link below to learn more about this event and our presenter.
