The DWC: Supporting Successful Communication Across the University
The DeVry Writing Center (DWC) provides writing and communication resources to support students, faculty, colleagues and alumni. It is open to the public, though some resources have restricted access. Resource sharing and adaptation are permitted in line with the Creative Commons CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 deed.
The DWC is a collaborative effort by the DeVry University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Library, with the support of other departments from Admissions to Alumni Relations.
Our goals
- Proactively drive effective and ethical writing and communication across the university.
- Support student, instructor, and colleague writing and communication needs for academic, professional and personal applications.
- Provide organized, relevant, readily accessible asynchronous resources.
- Provide engaging synchronous opportunities to personally support success and to develop a vibrant community of learners.
- Coordinate disparate communication-related resources provided by various university offices, outside professional organizations and higher education partners.
- Provide a platform for engaging and collaborating on existing and emerging communication-related issues and needs.
Our future
We are starting small and building continuously to meet our goals. After a soft-launch in November 2024 session, we had a broader Phase II launch in January 2025. As we continue to grow, you'll see additional asynchronous resources and an increasing variety of live opportunities for writers to learn and work together. If you don't find what you need, contact the DWC Coordinator, a librarian, course leader, or one of the others listed below.
