Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at DeVry University

DeVry’s Mission:

At DeVry University,  we strive to close our society’s opportunity gap and address emerging talent needs by preparing learners to thrive in careers shaped by continuous technological change. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Learning Outcomes:

Mindful Analysis: Students analyze core course concepts in relation to diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

Dismantling Bias: Cultural biases are identified and analyzed in course content and activities.

Cultural Context: Students recognize underlying historical, cultural, and social contexts that shape contemporary trends in industry.

Intercultural Communication: Students demonstrate Communications and activities demonstrate that students’ diverse identities, backgrounds, and cultures are valued.

Information and Access: Students access relevant support services or resources, at the college or elsewhere, as a part of course-related activities.

Leveraging Technology: Technologies are used in ways that amplify student voices and foster an inclusive course community.

Definitions of Terms

Diversity: At the most fundamental level, diversity can be defined as difference. However, it is important to understand that diversity isn’t just about race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, or ability. Diversity also means the active process of creating spaces where people feel included and welcome.

Inclusion: Inclusion is the intentional creation of an environment that fluidly incorporates diverse populations and values.

Equity: Equity is the process of creating fairness and providing people with the same resources to gain equality.
